[Review] 1
This is not a my design and I don't like assemble the kit of other people but
when I have seen this project.....

This is a complete push-pull amplifier in class AB operation without any feedback.

To get low distortion by the transistors in the voltage stage a simple but good
solution has been used. Infact an emitter follower is used after any voltage
amplifier to have low load for this one.

Other characteristics of this amplifier are:

  • the signal street on the board is very short
  • output device are the best Sanken transistors
  • high capacitors value used in power supply 120.000uF
  • Separated voltage stage power supply
  • Balanced or unbalanced input is allowed
  • Many components are preasseblated (all the SMD)
  • Top quality bypass capacitors are used in power supply (Music cap)
  • Very large band DC to 500.000 Hz
  • High output current 46 Ampere for 1ms
  • Output power from 100watt to 250watt (depend by version)
  • DC servo control included
  • Short circuit protection included
  • You can buy only some parts of the kits

You need only a volume control as the CT1 of DACT to connect to a CDPlayer

I have tested this amplifier on some loudspeakers, also a type without caps. in the
filter with very low impedance and the result is in any case very good, never there
is distortion, the bass frequency are fast and controlled, the middle and high frequency
are clear on any kind of music from classical to hard rock.

Well I have built the earlier model of this amp called "The End" and
this newer one is an improved version of that.
This amp sounds great and is really a
good investment.

LC audio is an interesting company. They are very quick to adopt new technologies such as

schottky rectifiers (now that you can actually get HV units) etc. They have also been good at

bringing product to the market in a timely manner -- such as their clocks for CD/DVD players.

I have been in contact with them once by email regarding one of their technical claims and the

response was quick and polite. They are good at inventing new pseudo technical marketing

terms such as ULC, non-paralell capacitors. They will also tell you that surface mount components

rule because they are shorter (could well be true all other thing being equal).

The Milennium units have been well received in the Scandinavian market. Reviews range from good

to "better than Levinson" -- the latter mostly from the Danish press, and I am not all that impressed

with the integrity of audio magazines in general.

My PERSONAL opinion is that these units are a little too complicated. Several gain stages etc, but

this is what provides the frequency response I suppose. BTW, I think you get the circuit board ready

made and soldered which is good considering there are lots of surface mount components on there.

I decided not to go for these units after extensive review. Then again, if you search the web you will

find reputable people who claim the products are great.

I built an amp based on the End Millennium kits and finished it in January. I chose to order only the circuit

boards from them and did the power supply, case, heatsinks etc for myself...

I have one transformer with 24V windings, four bridges, 10000uF capacitors for every output stage power

line and 4700uF capacitors for every pre/voltage amp stage power line. The signal comes directly from

modified Marantz CD67mkII cd player to 10K alps volume pot and then to the input of amp modules. I use

Dynaudio Audience BM-5 studio monitors for loudspeakers.

The sound of the amp is very good in my opinion. At first listening it felt to be very strange (my previous

amp was NAD C320). After some days of listening I got to like it more and more. The biggest plus in my

mind is that the amp doesn't cause listening fatique. The NAD amp was awful compared to it in that sense.

One thing that I also discovered is an effect that I don't find good words to describe, but what to me is

something of a better dynamics.

The amp has a great capability of producing voices and instruments individually. Marie Boine Persens -

Gula Gula record for example sounds absoulutely great. There are many songs where with quiet and

them loud passages and one can really feel the emotions involved. Very rare amps have pulled this off

with similar quality. I also had a Marantz PM-17 for repair about 2 months ago. I then compared them.

The Marantz had a pretty good sound with low listening levels and simple music (only couple of instruments at the time) but had a lot of trouble with complicated passages). For example The Corrs

"forgiven not forgotten" gets pretty complicated when the whole band kicks in. Marantz got very fuzzy

and totally lost the control over the music. The End Millennium on the other hand feels very comfortable

 with such music.

The only thing that was better with Marantz was the control of the lowest bass notes.

One of my good friend found The End Millennium to be almost 1:1 with Accuphase E-407. He has experience

with Accuphase I don't, so I can't comment on that.

The project has cost me about 450 USD and I consider the amp to be of exeptional value for the price..

The ZAPsolute Mk4 is a kit form (or handbuilt ready to play) high end Pure Class A amplifier, configurable

in 50, 78 or 118 Watts in 8 Ohms Class A. Capable of driving down to 1 Ohm with 6 times higher power.

(Shown on picture).

The End Millennium, a 100 - 300 Watt Class A/B amplifier in kit form, with short circuit protection, DC servo, easy to build, but with sound quality comparable to the best available factory made amplifiers in

the world.

Built with high grade capacitors, high quality cabling and a huge power supply, with The End Millennium.

You'll have the amplifier to knock out Your freinds' 10 times higher priced factory built amps.
