27.000MHz LClock XO2 Installation




Disassembly of the Unit:




1. Remove Disc Tray Front


a. Plug unit into power.


b. Switch on unit.


c. Press eject button.


d. Remove any disc that may be in the tray.


e. Unplug power (leaving the tray out).


f. Turn unit upside down.


g. Unclip disc tray front and slide it down.


h. Push tray back into unit.


i. Turn unit back right way up.




2. Remove Lid (Cover)


a. Remove 5 screws (2 on each side, 1 at the back).


b. Take lid off the unit.




3. Remove Front Panel


a. Unplug the flex ribbon cable between front PCB and main PCB.


b. Unclip front panel from the chassis.




4. Remove Disc Mechanism


a. Remove the metal arm at front of the disc mechanism. (Only 2 screws holding it.)


b. Remove 5 screws that hold the disc mechanism.


(1 on each side of the mechanism.)


(1 at the back of the mechanism.)


(2 on the right side of the mechanism, holding the PCB.)


c. Unplug disc mechanism from main PCB.




5. Remove Disc PCB


a. Turn disc mechanism upside down.


b. Unplug flex ribbon cable from the mechanism to the PCB.


c. Unclip the PCB from the mechanism. (Be careful of the other 2 flex ribbon cables under the PCB that are linked to the mechanism.)


d. Un-plug the cables and take the PCB out.




6. Remove Existing 27.000 MHz Crystal


a. Unsolder the crystal. (The crystal is in the middle of the PCB, marked X102.)


b. Unsolder the 2 capacitors that link to the crystal.




Installation:




7. Install LClock XO2


a. Solder 2 strong solid core wires on the side of LClock XO2 PCB ground track.


b. Bend the wires to 90 degrees.


c. Join LClock XO2 PCB vertically on to disc PCB.


d. There are alternate methods of mounting the LClock XO2, including screw mounting on the back panel. We chose this method due to space and simplicity.


e. Connect red output from LClock XO2 PCB to disc PCB where the point that the crystal was soldered on.


f. Remove the black output from LClock XO2 PCB.




8. Install disc PCB back on the disc mechanism (Refer to step 5)




9. Install disc mechanism (Refer to step 4)




10. Connect LClock XO2 power to the unit:


a. Solder LClock XO2 red power wire to JW048 on the main PCB


(It is at the left side of the disc mechanism, near the connection between the power PCB and the main PCB)




11. Install the front panel (Refer to step 3).




12. Put the lid back on (Refer to step 2).




13. Slide the tray front back on.




14. Test all of the unit¡¯s functions.




15. Congratulations! You have finished!






Note: Because maximum voltage from unit internal power supply is only 10V, it is recommend installing a Power Supply Unit for the LClock XO2.
